Welcome to the very first episode of the Business Talks podcast! To kick things off, I interviewed my cousin/Godfather Sean Canning - a modern architect based in San Diego, California. Sean went to architecture school at NJIT and held jobs at a few different architecture firms before heading out West to start his own company, Ten Seventy Architecture. We had a really great discussion around Sean's journey discovering his passion for architecture to the present day of how he has grown his business over the past decade and all of the lessons that he learned along the way. We discussed:
- Sean's background as an architect and the thinking behind moving to California to start his own firm during the height of the 2008-2009 financial crisis
- What he's learned during the past 10 years running his own architecture firm and what advice he has for others looking to start their own creative type business
- How he approaches the creative process and what his plans are for his company going forward
